East Providence Library To Host Electronic Waste Drop-Off Event

The event will take place at Weaver Library on Saturday, May 8 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

EAST PROVIDENCE, RI — The East Providence Library will host a free electronic waste drop-off event at its Weaver branch on Saturday, May 8 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The library is partnering with Indie Cycle, LLC, a company that offers local disposal events to promote the reusing, recycling, and refurbishing of electronics, to offer this event.

Items that will be accepted at no charge include computers, laptops, monitors, routers, PDA's, cell phones, mice, keyboards, ink-jet printers, toner cartridges, CD and DVD players, radios, televisions, network equipment, wires, stereos, speakers, telephones, cameras, microwaves, small household appliances, and acid lead batteries.

A $10 fee will be charged for the disposal of each laser-jet printer, wooden stereo speaker, air conditioner, and dehumidifier.

Items that cannot be accepted include light bulbs, single use household batteries, tapes and disks, glass, wood, Styrofoam, broken TV tubes, and hazardous materials.

Indie Cycle, LLC, has a zero landfill policy and will not re-market any hard drives or data storage devices.
