EAST PROVIDENCE, RI — A new fire lieutenant was promoted in East Providence. Joseph Burns, who has worked for the East Providence Fire Department for 24 years, was promoted late last month.
"Joe is a valued firefighter who will be a great leader and lieutenant. He's an even-keeled, by-the-book kind of guy." said acting Fire Chief Glenn Quick. "He's a family man and all around great guy who will lead with pride and professionalism."
Burns is an EMT-Cardiac and is a member of the HazMat and the Technical Rescue teams. With his promotion, he is the officer of Engine 3, Group D.
