East Providence Public Libraries To Remain Closed Until January

All branches of East Providence Public Library will remain closed through Jan. 5.

EAST PROVIDENCE, RI—East Providence Public Libraries will remain closed through Jan. 5 to prevent further spread of COVID-19.

The city's libraries initially announced their closure for the duration of the statewide pause from Nov. 30 through Dec. 20, making the decision on Monday to remain closed until after the holidays. The library system had already experienced a temporary closure on Nov. 9 due to a COVID-19 exposure at its main branch.

The current closure includes Weaver Library, Riverside Branch, and Fuller Creative Learning Center. Although these locations will not be available for in-person browsing and activities, online services, virtual programs, and a contact free "library takeout" for holds, print jobs, and craft kits will be provided.
