East Providence Public Library Awarded $100k Champlin Grant
The grant will fund a fire sprinkler system to keep visitors and staff safe.
EAST PROVIDENCE, RI —The East Providence Public Library has received a $100,000 grant from The Champlin Foundation, one of the oldest philanthropic nonprofit organizations in the state.
The Champlin grant will allow the library to install a fire sprinkler system to keep visitors and staff safe. The project will be funded with the $100,000 grant and $197,000 in capital funds.
“The Champlin Foundation is pleased to provide grant funding to the East Providence Public Library to help this important institution advance its vital mission,” said the organization in a statement. “Champlin Foundation grants are awarded on a competitive basis and our grant to the East Providence Public Library is a reflection of our confidence in the organization’s ability to improve the lives of Rhode Islanders in significant ways."

Since 1932, the Champlin Foundation has awarded over $600 million in grants to fund projects for Rhode Island non-profit organizations. These investments are made to improve medical care and education, foster the arts, expand access to social services, conserve open spaces, preserve historical buildings, and advance animal welfare.
“We are so thankful for the generosity shown by The Champlin Foundation, an organization which has always been so responsive to the capital needs of so many communities including ours,” said Mayor Bob DaSilva in a statement.
