East Providence Senior Named A Coca-Cola Scholar Semifinalist
The St. Mary Academy Bay View senior is one of 1,609 high school seniors chosen out of a pool of 99,403 applicants.

EAST PROVIDENCE, RI—A senior at St. Mary Academy Bay View has been chosen as a Semifinalist for the 2021 class of the Coca-Cola Scholars Program, the largest corporate-sponsored, achievement-based scholarship program in the United States.
Brook Newbury '20, of West Warwick, is one of 1,609 high school seniors who were selected as Semifinalists from a pool of 99,403 applicants, according to a press release from St. Mary Academy Bay View. The Semifinalists are in the running for 150 college scholarships worth $20,000.
"During her time at Bay View, Brooke has exemplified the mission of the Academy, as a confident, independent, compassionate and socially conscious young woman," said Colleen Gribbin, Upper School Principal at St. Mary Academy Bay View, in a press release. "We are so proud that her hard work is being recognized as Semifinalist in this prestigious program."

As a Semifinalist, Newbury will be required to complete the Phase 2 application, which includes essays, a recommendation, and transcripts. The applications are reviewed by an independent selection committee and 250 Regional Finalists will be chosen to participate in virtual interviews by the end of January.
The 150 Coca-Cola Scholars will be announced in March and participate in the Coca-Cola Scholars Leadership Development Institute, which is facilitated by program alumni.
