EAST PROVIDENCE, RI — An East Providence teacher has been named to Curriculum Associates' 2021 Class of Extraordinary Educators, an annual program that honors exemplar teachers from all over the country.
Paul Tarasevich, a teacher at Martin Middle School, is one of 44 teachers from 26 states and Washington D.C. chosen for the honor.
Curriculum Associates' Extraordinary Educators program recognizes educators who have been teaching for at least two years for their in-class use of i-Ready and/or Ready, progress shown through formal assessments, demonstration of innovation and engagement practices for students, and the high standards of achievement they hold their students to, said the company.

"I'm excited to be named an Extraordinary Educator because I want to learn from fellow educators and share successes that I've had in my classroom," said Tarasevich in a statement. "Teaching is a reflective practice in which we are constantly looking for ways to improve student outcomes."
"I'm eager to open up and share the accomplishments we have had at Martin Middle School over the past few years, as well as learn, network, and share we educators around the country," he continued.

The 2021 Class of Extraordinary Educators will have access to a national network of peers to collaborate with and learn from throughout the year and receive professional development opportunities, according to Curriculum Associates. They will also be invited to participate in the Extraordinary Educators Leadership Summit and other professional learning events.
"It goes without saying that this has been an unprecedented school year that has challenged educators, students, and families alike," said Rob Waldron, CEO of Curriculum Associates, in a statement. "However, this group of Extraordinary Educators - like so many other educators across the country - has more than risen to the occasion."
