EP Artist's Oil Painting Chosen For Holiday Card

EAST PROVIDENCE, RI— Amica's annual Thanksgiving cards are well known to customers for pretty fall scenes. This year, the artist featured is from East Providence. Shawn Kenney studied at the Rhode Island School of Design. His oil painting, “Getting Ready,” has been mailed to nearly 840,000 customers, the company said. It "evokes memories of preparing for past Thanksgivings, and the special people gathered around the table."

“The Thanksgiving piece had to conjure up what Thanksgiving felt like,” Kenney said. "More than most meals, it’s emblematic of being appreciative of what you have and who you have in your life. It had to evoke that sense of warmth.”

His painting will hang in the company’s art gallery with the other paintings featured on the holiday card since 1971, Amica said.
