Family Finds Old Dynamite In Garage Of East Providence Home

EAST PROVIDENCE, RI — A family found what they believed to be old dynamite in a home on Arnold St. in Riverside Friday afternoon.

A woman said her grandfather recently passed away and she discovered 1950s dynamite in the garage of his house, according to a Twitter post from Sam Read of NBC 1o.

The woman called law enforcement to safely remove the explosive and East Providence police and fire officials responded to the home at approximately 1 p.m.

The Rhode Island State Bomb Squad arrived at the scene about an hour later to detonate it by digging a hole in the backyard.

No injuries have been reported.
