New East Providence Trash Program Begins Next Week

Residents can use their city-issued, 95-gallon trash carts on Aug. 3.

EAST PROVIDENCE, RI — East Providence residents can begin using their 95-gallon, city-issued trash carts next week as part of the city's new automated collection program.

All trash bags must be placed in the cart provided to residents. Any items placed outside the cart will not be collected.

An additional cart can be purchased for $45 via a check to the City of East Providence/Department of Public Works, Office of Rubbish and Recycling, 145 Taunton Ave., East Providence, RI 02914. The address of the trash cart drop off should be included, as well as a phone number. Checks may also be placed in the City Hall drop box located on the Grove Avenue side of City Hall.

Those who have bulk items can pick them up at 401-435-7701 to schedule an appointment. Residents are allowed one bulk item per week to be picked up by appointment only.

Old trash barrels can be used for yard waste or recycled through the East Providence DPW.
