Obituary: Kenneth H. Fermino, 78, Air Force Veteran of Korean War

Kenneth H. Fermino, 78, of Hall St., East Providence, died at home Wednesday morning, Sept. 2, 2015.

Kenneth H. Fermino, 78, of Hall St., East Providence, died at home Wednesday morning, Sept. 2, 2015. He was the beloved husband of Gladys (Monteiro) Fermino.

Born April 20, 1937, in New Bedford, MA, he was a son of the late Peter Fermino and Matilda (Gomes) Fermino Gonsalves and the step son of the late Gordon Gonsalves.

Mr. Fermino was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War and later served with the RI Army National Guard. He was a self employed electrician and also was an electrician for General Dynamics/Electric Boat. He also worked for many years as a foreman with In Town Parking, Providence.

In addition to his wife of 47 years, he leaves his son, Francisco H. “Frank” Fermino of Somersworth, NH, his daughter, Buffy M. Fermino-Korn and her husband River, of Los Angeles, CA, and his granddaughter, Sloane Emerson.

He was also the brother of Ricardo Gonsalves of FL, Peter Fermino of Cranston, Paul Fermino of New Bedford, Virginia “Ginger” de Freitas of East Providence, Julie David of FL, Anna Tate of TX, and Brenda Pires of New Bedford.

His funeral will begin Wednesday, Sept. 9, at 9am from the Rebello Funeral Home and Crematory, 901 Broadway, East Providence, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in Our Lady of Loreto Church, 346 Waterman Ave., East Providence. Burial with military honors will follow at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Calling hours will be Tuesday, 5pm until 8pm.
