Obituary: Luiz J. Gonsalves Sr., 88

Gonsalves Sr., Luiz J. age 88, of Brunswick St., died March 10, 2016 at Waterview Villa. He was the husband of the late Anna (Cabral) Gonsalves. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Jose Luiz Gonsalves and Maria (Coelho) Gonsalves.

He worked as a Machinist for Collyer Insulated Wire. He was a Veteran who proudly served our country for 20 years with the US Army during WWII and the Korean Conflict.

He is survived by his children Maria L. Gonsalves of NY, Jose L. Gonsalves and Luiz J. Gonsalves II both of East Providence, 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He was the brother of Marianna da Graca of East Providence and Jose L. Gonsalves Jr. of Exeter. He was predeceased by his stepson Paul F. Cabral.

His funeral will begin on Wednesday at 8:45am from the Rebello Funeral Home and Crematory, 901 Broadway, East Providence, RI. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10am in the Rego Auditorium at St. Francis Xavier Church, N. Carpenter St., East Providence. Burial will be private. Calling hours Tuesday 5-8pm.
