Obituary: Margarida "guida" dos Santos, 91

Margarida M. “Guida” dos Santos, 91, of No. County St., East Providence, died peacefully Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center. She was the wife of the late Antonio J. “Toi Garage” dos Santos.

Born Feb. 8, 1924, in Fanja, Sao Nicolau, Cabo Verde, she was a daughter of the late Francisco Teofilo Diniz and Maria Margarida dos Santos.

She leaves her 6 children, Merces of Rome, Diogo of Holland, Adriano of Holland, Adriana of East Providence, Maggie of East Providence and Dina of East Providence; 9 grandchildren, Danny, Charlene, Sheila, Ismael, Megan, Karina, Elwin, Jeremy and Miriam; and 5 great grandchildren.

She was also the sister of Maria Margarida “Luxa” of Cabo Verde, Antonia “Tanha” of New Bedford, Maria de Jesus “Zange” of Luxemburg, Francisco “Maninho” of Portugal, Valentina “Va” of Cabo Verde, Lucialina of Luxemberg, and of the late Manuel “Mane Tiofe” and Aurelio “Dei”.

Her funeral will be held Monday, Dec. 7, at 11am in the Rebello Funeral Home and Crematory, 901 Broadway, East Providence. Burial will follow at the Rumford Cemetery. Calling hours will be Sunday afternoon, 2pm until 5pm, and again Monday morning from 10am until 11am.
