Obituary: Raymond M. Souza, 75

Raymond M. Souza, age 75, a lifelong resident of East Providence, RI, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, February 20, 2016.

Raymond M. Souza, age 75, a lifelong resident of East Providence, RI, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, February 20, 2016 at the Lawnwood Medical Center in Ft. Pierce, FL, after a brief illness. He was the husband of Diana Souza of Lake Okeechobee, FL. and the late Theresa (Kelly) Souza of East Providence, RI.

Born December 8, 1940, he was the son of the late Frank and Jenny Souza of Barrington, RI.

Ray worked as a truck driver for Narragansett Lumber in Warwick and Quonset Point, RI before retiring in 1998.

Ray was a member of St. Margaret's Parish, a member of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association, a member of the Trinity Brother Hood and the Foxes Den Camping Club. He was a Fourth Degree Knight, Knights of Columbus and a loyal member of the Teamsters Union Local 251. Ray enjoyed riding motorcycles, boating and camping with his family. He enjoyed Nascar Racing and had a great love of Mickey Mouse.

Besides his wife he is survived by two brothers; Frank "Sandy" Souza of Bristol, RI and Richard Souza of North Providence, RI, one son, Raymond M. Souza, Jr. and his wife, Meredeth of Riverside, RI, three daughters; Donna LePage and her husband Donald of East Providence, RI, Shirley DiIorio and her husband Peter of Rehoboth, MA and Sharon Helwig of Davenport, FL, his faithful companion Pugsley, nine grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. He was the father of the late William A. Souza.

His Funeral will begin on Monday March 7, 2016, at 11am from the Rebello Funeral Home and Crematory, 901 Broadway, East Providence, RI. Committal Prayers will follow at 12noon at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Calling hours are Sunday March 6, 2016, from 1-4pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations to one of the following St. Jude Children's Hospital, American Diabetes Association or the American Cancer Society on behalf of the deceased would be gratefully appreciated.
