Pawtucket Man Pleads Guilty To Drug Conspiracy

BOSTON, MA – William Holts, 51, worked at MCI-Norfolk as a corrections officer in the Bay State's largest medium-security prison. He pleaded guilty on Wednesday to a conspiracy charge, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office in Boston. Holts to smuggle drugs into the prison for an inmate. The drugs were Suboxone strips.

Specifically, he pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to possess a controlled substance. Sentencing is scheduled for Sept 17. He was arrested on May 9.

According to court papers, Holts had smuggled other "contraband" into the prison for an inmate before. Sometime around April 30, he offered to bring in drugs and wanted to be paid cash. He had planned to "bring in over 100 Suboxone strips in exchange for $2,000 in cash," the U.S. Attorney's Office said, and he arranged for the delivery (of drugs and money) on recorded telephone calls.
