Rhode Island Philharmonic Orchestra Celebrating 75th Season

Ticket are available individually or by subscription for as few as four performances.

EAST PROVIDENCE, RI — The Rhode Island Philharmonic has announced the program for the upcoming season, the orchestra's 75th. The season will include Grammy-winning guest artists Yefim Bronfman, James Ehnes and Pinchas Zukerman.

This year is the inaugural season for conductor Bramwell Tovey, who will lead 12 classical and eight educational concerts. Tovey was diagnosed with cancer and is taking time to undergo treatment during the summer months. He plans to continue with all scheduled 2019-20 season activities.

"I am tremendously excited to get started this September. Given that it’s our first season together and the Orchestra’s 75th, we are planning a meaningful, memorable and inspiring experience. We have planned concerts that feature repertoire which explores the depth and breadth of this wonderful Orchestra," Tovey said. "It can be difficult for all of us to drag ourselves out of the house at the end of a long week—but I can promise that everyone who is a part of our concerts next season will leave feeling energized, grateful for the opportunity to experience something so exceptional together and looking forward to the next time."

"We can’t wait for next season to start. The two performances that Bramwell conducted with the Orchestra this past season, including our all Tchaikovsky gala, were electric. The more time Bramwell and the Orchestra have together, the more exceptional their collaboration becomes," said David Beauchesne, the executive director of the Rhode Island Philharmonic Orchestra & Music School. "We are thrilled to have him conduct so much of next season. His involvement in our education and community programs will be equally transformative for those involved. He has already given masterclasses and visited schools, and our students and partners are looking forward to more of that!"
