RI Weather Forecast: New Storm Threatens Midweek

An Alberta clipper storm is heading our way, and the right conditions would have it strengthen over us.

A new storm is threatening to make its way to New England quicker than you can say "50 degrees." An Alberta clipper storm could be here as early as midweek, spreading some snow and making for more slippery conditions as we welcome back arctic air.

The specifics of the storm's impact aren't yet known, but New England could get anywhere from a dusting to several inches of snow if a slow-moving storm coming from Canada makes the right moves, AccuWeather is reporting.

"If this strengthening and left turn occurs near the coast, a new round of snow will develop and may be thrown westward along the mid-Atlantic coast and across much of New England at midweek," AccuWeather Long-Range Meteorologist Max Vido said.

Our little heat burst is over, with temperatures already dropping until a flash freeze sets in Saturday night. It was 63 degrees in Lawrence, MA, Saturday morning, the National Weather Service said, but a rapid chill is setting in. Temperatures for kickoff of the Patriots game will be in the 20s.

Freezing air will stick around the following few days - Sunday and Monday will be the worst of it with lows in the teens - and temperatures won't rebound until next Saturday.
