RI Weather Forecast: Weekend Storm Brings More Precipitation

There is some potential good news to be had in all of this, however.

Another storm is en route to Rhode Island this weekend, but it appears they are continuing to get less and less snowy. A Saturday-into-Sunday storm will be a mostly rain event, with some sleet mixed in, but the confidence for snow right now is low thanks to increasing temperatures.

High temperatures this weekend should be around 45 degrees, meaning Saturday's precipitation will be primarily rain, with a chance of a wintry mix sprinkled in. AccuWeather says "the storm is slated to affect ... Boston with rain and fog issues during Saturday night and Sunday." The ground may remain cold enough for the formation of black ice, especially along the coast.

Wednesday's storm started out as snow but transitioned into rain for much of the region as the day went on.

The positive thing to take from this is it appears we've gotten over a temperature hump for now. After today, high temperatures won't dip below 30 until at least next Thursday, and we won't see many freezing temperatures in that time frame.

Even if the temperatures have taken a turn and most of the snow is behind us, Rhode Island has exceeded its average snowfall this season. March is typically when the region sees its last snowfall, so we aren't out of the woods yet.
