St. Martha's Heritage Fest Unites East Providence Catholics

The annual Heritage Festival celebrates the vibrancy ethnic diversity of church's congregation.

Parishoners at St. Martha's Church are enjoying a weekend of family fun, entertainment and soul-warming home cooking at the 28th annual Heritage Fest.

The annual weekend-long festival focuses on prayer, family and positive forms of entertainment to celebrate the vibrancy and ethnic diversity of the church's congregation. Numerous events, picnics and parades make for a wholesome weekend of fun to kickoff the summer.

Over the next two days, the church has multiple events ocurring to entertain all ages, reports the East Providence Post.

Saturday:

  • Martinho and Speed Limit with special guest Sandy Berto will perform under the Big Tent beginning at 6 p.m.
  • Movie Night: Ages 13 and older, Saturday, June 22 from 9 to 11 p.m., the movie “Perfect Game" will be viewed. 
  • Movement Hour: Ages 13 and older, Saturday and Sunday, during intermission of the entertainment acts teens will learn dance steps.

Sunday:

  • Noon Mass: All Ages, Sunday, June 23 at noon, lead by Pastor Father David Green.
  • Traditional Procession: All Ages, Sunday, June 23 at 1 p.m., following the annual noon mass, Pastor Green will lead the congregation through the streets of the neighborhods surrounding St. Martha's.
  • Sunday Afternoon Music: A DJ scheduled to play on Sunday afternoon until 7 p.m. 
  • Children's Petting Zoo: All Ages, Sunday, June 23 from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. The petting zoo will have kittens, chickens, baby goats and a pot belly pig.
  • Rocktail Renditions: Performing 7 - 10 p.m. 
  • Movement Hour: Ages 13 and older, Saturday and Sunday, during intermission of the entertainment acts teens will learn dance steps.
