Two I-195 West On-Ramps To Re-Open In East Providence

East Providence Mayor Bob DaSilva announced that the Veterans Memorial Parkway and Warren Avenue ramps will soon be back open to drivers.

EAST PROVIDENCE, RI — Two on-ramps to Interstate 195 West are reopening to drivers on Wednesday. East Providence Mayor Bob DaSilva announced the re-opening of the Veterans Memorial Parkway and Warren Avenue ramps on Tuesday.

"Good news. Hearing that the Veterans Memorial Pkwy and Warren Ave on ramps to 195 West will be opening tomorrow," DaSilva said in a post on Facebook.

The on-ramps were closed in April 2018 to allow crews to repair the structurally deficient Parkway Ramp Bridge. At the time, the Rhode Island Department of Transportation said the bridge replacement was expected to be completed by Fall 2018, though "work on the nearby Washington Bridge will extend its reopening until the end of 2019."

"This morning I had the pleasure of meeting Cody and Anthony who are working on putting the finishing touches on the Veterans Memorial Pkwy and Warren Ave on ramps to route 195 West," DaSilva posted later in the day alongside a selfie with the aforementioned workers. "The opening of the ramps is being delayed until tomorrow as they need a little more time to finalize some paving."
