University Orthopedics Supports Local Businesses and Staff Morale
Employee Morale The perfect recipe: One part community support, one part employee appreciation served with a side of compassion
EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (April 14, 2020) — There is no doubt the profound effect the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic is having on every aspect of our lives. In order to ease some of the burden placed on our local businesses, as well as our own healthcare workers, University Orthopedics has decided to give back to their employees while supporting restaurants in our community.
Each year, the University Orthopedics Charitable Giving Committee earmarks a budget for various local causes. However, due to these unprecedented times, the committee has decided to pivot and reallocate the money. On Wednesday, April 15, UOI bought lunch for hundreds of employees at all locations throughout the state from 11 different locally owned small businesses.
Pierre Boutros owner of Little Country Pizza & Restaurant in Exeter was thrilled to hear that his restaurant was a part of this initiative, “Everyone is having a difficult time, not only financially but the stress level is very high, we are all nervous. I think it’s a great thing that University Orthopedics is doing and I hope we all get through this soon.“

Lemon & Oil Deli in East Providence was also part of the lunch event. “I think it’s awesome. I think it’s really what can get you through this tough time just everybody coming together. Every little drop in the bucket counts. People doing little things is a big part.” said owner Neil Nadeau.
“Charitable Giving Committee was established to do good work for the community. In this time of challenges for restaurants and local businesses, we decided to combine supporting local restaurants while providing a morale boost for our staff who are having a difficult time just like everyone else,” said Dr. George Pasquarello, a member of UOI’s Charitable Giving Committee.

“We fully realize that this is but a small gesture considering the magnitude of this pandemic and its effects. However, we truly believe that small gestures can sometimes have a big impact,” said Dr. Paul Fadale, also a member of the Charitable Giving Committee. “We want our employees to know we truly appreciate what they do every day. What better way to do that than to give our neighbors some much-needed business.”
