Worcester Wins: PawSox To Leave Rhode Island
The City of Worcester will build a new stadium costing between $86 million and $90 million, the Telegram & Gazette reports.

PAWTUCKET, RI—It may not be over until the fat lady sings, but Worcester appears to have landed the PawSox Triple-A team. If the deal stands, they'll be the WooSox. A lot of Rhode Islanders are upset about the news. After all, Fred Lynn and Jim Rice and countless other Boston Red Sox greats played at McCoy. Rhode Islanders grabbed a front row seat to baseball's future. Kids went up to the stadium and played their championships.
According to the Worcester Telegram story, the plan includes housing and a face lift for Kelly Square. The deal is not quite final. The city council must vote after some hearings.
