Glocester Ancients And Horribles Parade Will Be Held In 2021

The renowned Fourth of July parade, founded in 1927, did not take place in its usual form last year due to COVID-19 concerns.

GLOCESTER, RI - The town's famous Ancient and Horribles Parade will be held this summer as coronavirus metrics improve across Rhode Island.

The renowned Fourth of July parade, founded in 1927, did not take place in its usual form last year due to COVID-19 concerns. Instead, the Town Council held a contest where residents and businesses were encouraged to create patriotic "floats" on their own properties. Generally, the event is held every year in the village of Chepachet.

The parade will be held this year, WJAR reports. The town council on Thursday scheduled fireworks for Friday, July 2. The parade is expected to happen the next day.
