SOUTH KINGSTOWN, RI — Two people were arrested after shots were fired at a South Kingstown park on Monday afternoon, according to police. The gunshots are believed to be connected to a drug deal and not a random act.

Police were called to Fagan Park on Dam street around 3:40 p.m. for several reported gunshots. The caller said two people were running towards the bike path, while a vehicle sped away. Two underage boys were caught and arrested on Rodman Street, and a 9 mm handgun was seized by police. Officers were unable to find the vehicle.

Police believe the gunshots were an isolated incident and not a random act. The boys were taken to the Rhode Island Training School. Police were later able to get in touch with the other people involved.
