KINGSTON, RI — More than 300 veterans received their first coronavirus vaccine at a drive-through clinic at the University of Rhode Island over the weekend. The all-ages clinic was sponsored by the Providence VA.

The line quickly backed up for the first-come, first-served event, which kicked off at 9 a.m. Saturday. One person who got to the site around 8:15 a.m. told Patch that their wait was not too long, but that the line of cars stretched back along Route 138 by the time they left about an hour later.

Veterans received the two-dose Pfizer shot. A second-dose clinic will be held at the same site April 17.
