5 THINGS: It’s Friday, Friday

Remember that song? Well now it's in your head – sorry I'm not sorry.

Here are the (more than) Five Things for Friday, December 14, 2012:

Got an act? A national television series is auditioning people for a $10,000 prize at the Courthouse Center for the Arts at 9:30 a.m. on December 14, 15, 16 and 17. For more info, click here.

β€œFigure skating is an unlikely Olympic event but its good television. It’s sort of a combination of gymnastics and ballet. A little sexy too, which doesn’t hurt.” – Andy Rooney. It’s not quite figure skating, but there is public skate today at the Boss Ice Arena at 10 a.m. For rates and more information, click here. The skating gives way to hockey at noon.

Oh no! Maybe there seriously aren’t that many events today, given that it’s Alabama Day. As a result, our events calendar for today is a bit barren. If you’re having an event, please let us know in the comments. Also, make sure it isn’t left out in the future – Submit it via this link (as long as you’re logged into your Patch account).

Give the gift of food this holiday season. Children’s Dentistry of Wakefield is having a food drive from now until Dec. 19. For more info, click here.

Sign up for our daily newsletter! Hey, I realize we have a lot of neat features and knick-knacks on the site, so it can be confusing to keep up with it all. Weird to think that we haven’t really been back there. 40 years ago, the last man to walk on the Moon did so – it was Eugene Cernan.

I have literally seen nothing you have been in. Happy 24th birthday to Vanessa Hudgens!
