5 THINGS: It’s Sunday!

Check out these 5 Things for Sunday.

Here are the (more than) Five Things for Sunday, December 16, 2012:

This will be legitimately good, unlike when I played it in sixth grade. There will be a recorder concert at 2 p.m. at the Peace Dale Library. The show is free, and for more info, click here.

And hey, more music! There is a free Christmas music show at 2 p.m. at Java Madness. And it’s for kids! Yay! Click here for more info.

And hey, even more music! There is an undergraduate honors strings quartet at the URI Fine Arts Center at 3 p.m. For more info, click here.

They might even talk about werewolves of London. Alyssa Grayson will be speaking in Charlestown about some of the misconceptions of wolves seen in film. The talk is at 1 p.m., and you can find more info here.

Got an act? A national television series is auditioning people for a $10,000 prize at the Courthouse Center for the Arts at 9:30 a.m. on December 16 and 17. For more info, click here.

Oh no! Maybe there seriously aren’t that many events today, given that it’s National Sports Day in Thailand. As a result, our events calendar for today is a bit barren. If you’re having an event, please let us know in the comments. Also, make sure it isn’t left out in the future – Submit it via this link (as long as you’re logged into your Patch account).

Give the gift of food this holiday season. Children’s Dentistry of Wakefield is having a food drive from now until Dec. 19. For more info, click here.

Sign up for our daily newsletter! Hey, I realize we have a lot of neat features and knick-knacks on the site, so it can be confusing to keep up with it all. Want just one simple, easy to read daily digest? Sign up for our e-mail newsletter here then. It comes out between 6 a.m. and 7 a.m. roughly, every single day of the week. Amazing, I know!

Also known as the lamest issues ever, because I guess we’re not big into ourselves. On this day in 2006, Time’s person of the year edition where they named “YOU!” as the person of the year hit newsstands. (For you kids out there, a magazine is this thing printed on paper that was around even before the Internet and Kindles.)

“Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.” – Arthur C. Clarke. If the great science fiction writer was still alive, he would be 94. I can attest to being a big fan of 2001, and his three follow-up works. For some of his best quotes, click here.
