5 THINGS: It’s Tuesday, Tuesday

It's not quite Friday – Friday – but we're edging a bit closer, at least, with these events and information.

Here are the (more than) Five Things for Tuesday, April 9, 2013:

“I like the noise of democracy.” – James Buchanan. Here are today’s government meetings:

  • The Narragansett Historic District Commission meets at 6 p.m.
  • The South Kingstown Town Council and School Committee have a joint budget session at 7 p.m.
  • The Galilee Advisory Committee meets at 7 p.m.

This is not to be confused with MTV’s Next, which is about as different (and stupid) as you can get. The University of Rhode Island is hosting a free viewing of Switch at 7 p.m. For more info about the event, click here.

Mmm, delicious vegetables and produce! Goose Pond Farm of West Kingston is offering community supported agriculture accounts from this season to Dec. 31. For more info, click here.

Has the time or date or details of one of your events changed? If you posted the event yourself on our site, then remember – You can always change the details if you’re logged into your Patch account. Failing that, leave a comment on the item in question! The issue is that lately, people have been e-mailing me, and depending on the time of the day, it can take me anywhere from 30 minutes or 30 hours to get to the item, unfortunately. As a result, I encourage you all to be as proactive as possible!

Oh no! Maybe there seriously aren’t that many events today, given that it’s Canada's Vimy Ridge Day. As a result, our events calendar for today is a bit barren. If you’re having an event, please let us know in the comments. Also, make sure it isn’t left out in the future – Submit it via this link (as long as you’re logged into your Patch account).

Sign up for our daily newsletter! Hey, I realize we have a lot of neat features and knick-knacks on the site, so it can be confusing to keep up with it all. Want just one simple, easy to read daily digest? Sign up for our e-mail newsletter here then. It comes out between 6 a.m. and 7 a.m. roughly, every single day of the week. Amazing, I know.

But like weren’t all the states free from Russia already??? On this day in 1991, Georgia declared its independence from Russia. (Not this Georgia.)

Bop, bop bop bop, bop bop bop bop bop… Happy 34th birthday to Keshia Knight Pulliam, a.k.a. Rudy from The Cosby Show! (It is also Kristen Stewart’s 23rd birthday, but I think I’m the only person in America still on Team Stewart.)
