5 THINGS: Nixon, Cookies and Tina Turner

Just because Garfield is a dullard and hates Mondays, that doesn't mean you have to!

Here are the (more than) Five Things for Monday, November 26, 2012:

“Sure, there are dishonest men in local government. But there are dishonest men in national government too.” – Richard Nixon. Here are today’s government meetings:

  • The South Kingstown Town Council meets at 7:30 p.m. at town hall. A work session starts at 6:45 p.m.
  • No meetings in Narragansett. (Sorry I’m not sorry if that disappoints you.)

Are you home for the holidays so that you can audition for Home for the Holidays? Because, you know, auditions are from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Courthouse Center for the Arts.

Oh no! Maybe there seriously aren’t that many events today, given that it’s the Mongolian Independence Day. As a result, our events calendar for today is a bit barren. If you’re having an event, please let us know in the comments. Also, make sure it isn’t left out in the future – Submit it via this link (as long as you’re logged into your Patch account).

Santa AND Cookies!!! The South Kingstown Guild is holding a kids’ cookie creation class on Dec. 1, but they would like people to pre-register, for obvious reasons. For more information, click here. The class is aimed at children ages 5 to 10, and the cost is $12 per child. Also, the Guild is hosting Santa on Dec. 5, 6 and 7, but the program is limited to SK residents. For more info, click here.

Sign up for our daily newsletter! Hey, I realize we have a lot of neat features and knick-knacks on the site, so it can be confusing to keep up with it all. Want just one simple, easy to read daily digest? Sign up for our e-mail newsletter here then. It comes out between 6 a.m. and 7 a.m. roughly, every single day of the week. Amazing, I know!

Oh Jeeves, tell Niles and Fraiser and Jefferson to prepare the yacht for some sailing! On this day in 1825, the first college social fraternity, Kappa Alpha, was formed at Union College.

What’s love got to do with a birthday? Happy 73rd birthday to Tina Turner! Hopefully she hires a private dancer for the occasion. You get it? See, it’s funny, because Tina Turner had that album, Private Dancer, that was a real big hit for her. (I work on really subtle levels like this.)
