Here's what's open and closed in Rhode Island over the holiday weekend.

NARRAGANSETT-SK, RI — Monday is Columbus Day, a day off of work or school for many across Rhode Island. Named for Christopher Columbus, the holiday is an important celebration in Italian-American culture.

All state-run coronavirus test sties will be closed Monday, the Rhode Island Department of Health said Friday.

In honor of the holiday, many businesses and public services will be closed. While it is a federal holiday, only some businesses choose to observe it.

  • Libraries: Closed

  • Municipal, state, federal offices: Closed
  • Mail: Post offices closed; express delivery only
  • RIPTA: Sunday/Holiday schedule
  • Trash Collection: Most towns with pickup are delayed by one day. Check with your local public works department if you're unsure.
