[CONTRIBUTE] Skippers Best Rebels, 20-16, in 4th

According to The South County Independent and readers, North Kingstown wins the annual Thanksgiving match-up thanks to a fourth quarter stand.

According to several readers, the North Kingstown Skippers beat the South Kingstown Rebels, 20-16, at North Kingstown High School on Thanksgiving Day.

The loss means that the Rebels will finish the 2012 season winless. South Kingstown won an Injury Fund exhibition against Chariho, but otherwise didn’t win a game this year.

In contrast, the win snaps a long losing streak for North Kingstown, which last won on Sept. 22 against Pilgrim High School.

It’s a minor upset, considering that South Kingstown is a Division I squad. Although the Rebels went winless this year, it’s still rare for Division I teams to lose to lower-division teams.

According to The South County Independent’s Facebook page, the Skippers clinched the game in the fourth quarter with a touchdown, followed by a goal line stand that prevented South Kingstown from scoring in the final minute.
