Domestic Assault, Hit and Run Arrests Made by PD
Police arrest a Narragansett woman for domestic assault and a URI student for a hit and run. Narragansett police logs from April 7, 2013.

Narragansett Woman Charged With Domestic Assault
Alexis A. Kiernan, 33, of 11 Rockland St., Apt. #A, Narragansett, was arrested at about 7:04 p.m. on April 7 and charged with domestic assault.

According to police, they received a report from an anonymous caller of a possible domestic disturbance at the intersection of Kingstown Road and Rockland Street. Police said that they could hear yelling between a man and a woman coming from a home on Rockland Street.
Police said that when they entered the home, they saw Kiernan charging at a 41-year-old Narragansett man, who had his arms up in the air while he was backing up.

According to police, both Kiernan, a family member of Kiernan and the man all claimed that they were acting in self-defense. Police said Kiernan was arrested and charged based on the visible injuries to the man, and based on the arresting officer seeing her charge at the victim.
Police said Kiernan was processed at headquarters and then released at about 8:40 p.m.
URI Student Arrested for Warrant, Cited for Various Driving Violations
Laureen J. O’Connor, 21, of 150 Lloyd Ave., Providence, was arrested at about 2:30 p.m. on April 7. Police said O’Connor is a student at the University of Rhode Island, and also that a Second Division District Court warrant was out for her arrest.
According to police, they received a report of a hit-and-run accident occurring at about 1:15 a.m. on April 7. Police said a Narragansett woman told them that she awoke to the sound of a car crash, and noted that the damage to her truck matched that of a grey Nissan Sentra parked nearby.
Police said that they confirmed that the damage to the truck matched the damage to the Sentra, but attempts to contact the owner of the Sentra – O’Connor – were initially unsuccessful.
According to police, at 12:30 p.m. they were able to reach O’Connor on the phone, and this was followed by an interview at headquarters at 2:30 p.m.
Police said that a background check of O’Connor revealed the warrant out for his arrest, and also that her license was suspended as of November 2012. She was also cited for failing to report an accident.
According to police, O’Connor posted $418.50 in bail to a justice of the peace at about 8 p.m., at which point she was released from headquarters.
Narragansett Man Arrested for Warrant
Paul Lamar Barbosa, 44, of 6 Cornell Road, Narragansett, was arrested at about 1:51 a.m. on April 7. Police said a Third Division District Court warrant was out for Barbosa’s arrest for failing to appear at a court hearing for a charge of driving without a license.
According to police, they received a report of a man – Barbosa – stumbling in the roadway near the South Pavilion of Narragansett Town Beach.
Police said a background check revealed Barbosa’s warrant, and he was arrested without incident. He was transported to the ACI at about 5:30 a.m.
