Dr. Eugene A. Russo, Sr., Family Man and Scholar, Dies at 80
Dr. Eugene A. Russo, Sr., a neurosurgeon and world traveler and scholar, died on Saturday, June 29. He was 80.

Dr. Eugene A. Russo, Sr., 80, formerly of Narragansett, died on Saturday, June 29, 2013 at his home surrounded by his family. He was thehusband of Patricia (MacDonald) Russo. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Pasco and Amelia (Pisaturo) Russo.
Dr. Russo was a neurosurgeon at St. Joseph’s Hospital for 40 years until his retirement. He was a member of the RI Medical Society, New England Neurosurgical Society, and Syracuse Medical Alumni Association. He received a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from Providence College, a Masters Degree in French from the University of Lausanne, Switzerland, and his Medical Degree from the University of Louvain, Belgium. Eugene was a man of multiple interests; he had an insatiable interest in world travel, art history, and the culinary arts. He was a docent for several years at the RISD Museum, a member of The Explorers Club, a wine enthusiast and a member of the Rhode Island Academy of Wine. Most importantly Eugene was a wonderful husband, father, and friend.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, July 3 at 10 a.m. in St. Thomas More Church, 53 Rockland St., Narragansett. Interment will be private. Visiting hours are on Tuesday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the Nardolillo Funeral Home & Crematory South County Chapel, located at 1111 Boston Neck Road (Route 1A), in Narragansett.
