DUI Arrest Made by Police
Police charged a RIC student with drunken driving, and cite several others for alcohol violations. Narragansett police logs from April 27, 2013.

RIC Student Charged With DUI
George J. West, 21, of 99 Isabella Ave., Providence, was arrested at about 2:57 a.m. on April 27 and charged with drunken driving, and cited for refusing to submit to a chemical test. Police said West is a student at Rhode Island College.

According to police, an officer monitoring traffic noticed a silver Honda making a wide turn from Burnside Avenue to Point Judith Road. Police said that after the vehicle continued to swerve and accelerate to 75 miles per hour on Point Judith Road, a traffic stop was made near Jerry’s Paint and Hardware.
Police said that when they asked the driver – West – if they knew why they had stopped his car, he allegedly told them, “No idea.” When police asked if he had had any medications that evening, he allegedly told them, “Klonopin, eight years ago.”

According to police, West consented to field sobriety tests, which he allegedly failed. Police said West consented to a preliminary breath test, which revealed a blood alcohol level of 0.187.
Police said that West was arrested at this point, and later refused to submit to chemical breath tests at headquarters. He was processed and then released at about 5:30 a.m.
Alcohol Citations
- Ryan J. Cournoyer, 20, of 140 Danielson Pike, Foster, was cited at about 11:39 p.m. on April 27 and charged with possession of alcohol by a minor. Police said he is a student at the University of Rhode Island.
According to police, an officer driving on Greene Lane saw Cournoyer walking with a bottle of Corona beer in his hand. Police confirmed that Cournoyer was underage and cited him for the violation.
- Thaddeus C. Wahlberg, 20, of 155 Gravelly Hill Road, South Kingstown, was cited at about 1:50 a.m. on April 27 and charged with possession of alcohol by a minor. Police said he is a student at the Community College of Rhode Island.
According to police, while clearing a party on Hope Lane they saw Wahlberg trying to leave while carrying three bottles of Budweiser. A check of his ID revealed he was underage, and he was cited for possession, police said.
Loud Parties
- At about 1:33 a.m. on April 27, police received a report of a loud party at 36 Hope Lane.
According to police, about 50 to 75 people were at the party, with several cars cited for illegal parking. Police noted that the renters were cooperative, but it took them some time to answer the door.
The tenants were identified as Kerry P. Donovan, 23, and Anthony G. Velasquez, 20.
- At about 12:21 a.m. on April 27, police received a report of a loud party at 24 Greene Lane.
According to police, about 100 to 120 people were at the party. Police said there didn’t seem to be any cars illegally parked in the neighborhood.
Police said the party was cleared quickly with the help of the renters. The tenants were identified as Rainford G. Thomas, 23, Sean P. McNally and Andrew G. Guyer, 22, and Cody J. Hill and Michael C. Ferrari, 21.
