DUI Arrestee Upfront With Officers

URI Student Charged With Drunken Driving
Sean M. Hansen, 20, of 29 Yellow Birch Road, Narragansett, was arrested at about 2:36 a.m. on April 6 and charged with drunken driving. Police said Hansen is a student at the University of Rhode Island.

According to police, an officer driving behind Hansen’s truck on Point Judith Road and Burnside Avenue saw it swerve several times without explanation in the roadways. A traffic stop was made in the 100-section of Point Judith Road.
Police said that when they asked Hansen if he had been drinking, he allegedly told them, “Yes, I drank too much.” When they asked him if he should be driving, he allegedly said, “No sir, I had too much to drink,” adding that it had been about 10 beers.

According to police, Hansen failed field sobriety tests, at which point he was arrested. Police said Hansen consented to chemical breath tests at headquarters, which revealed blood alcohol levels of .144 at 3:27 a.m. and .142 at 3:29 a.m.
Police said Hansen was arraigned before a justice of the peace on Saturday morning and then released.
Loud Party Broken Up on Colonel John Gardner Road
At about 1 a.m., police said they received a report of a loud party at 71 Colonel John Gardner Road.
According to police, there were about 50 people at the home, with several illegally parked cars that were moved when the party ended.
Police said the tenants were cooperative in ending the party. The renters were identified as Jonathan W. Connors, 22, and Connor E. Blier, 20.
