Gross – Sick Skunk Loose in Jenckes Court Area

At about 8:07 a.m. on March 26, Narragansett Animal Control Officer Art Smith received a report of a sick skunk in the area of Jenckes Court.

Smith said that according to two homeowners, two of their dogs had been sprayed by the skunk. A search was launched for the skunk in the area with negative results.

According to Smith, both of the dogs had had a rabies shot as of March 6, so a booster was not required because it was less than 30 days from contact with the skunk.

The homeowners were advised to bring their dogs to the vet as a precaution, and to call Animal Control immediately if they saw the skunk again.
