Galilee Fishing, Seafood Festival This Weekend
Enjoy some fishing and some seafood this weekend!

The Town of Narragansett, the Department of Environmental Management and the Rhode Island Saltwater Anglers Association will hold the First Annual Galilee Fishing for a Cause Tournament and Seafood Festival this weekend – Sept. 8 and 9 – in the Port of Galilee.
Admission for the tournament and festival is free.

The tournament and festival will celebrate and promote Rhode Island’s recreational and commercial fishing industries, locally-harvested seafood and the Port of Galilee.
The Festival will feature local seafood and food vendors, artisans, music and educational exhibits. Activities include a sea creature touch tank, a rock climbing wall and performances by Boat Cake, Groove Axiom and the Rhode Island Philharmonic Music School.

On Sunday from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., organizers will offer guided tours of a fish processing plant, fishing vessel and fish net design and production facility. The tour begins at The Town Dock, Inc. (behind the event site) and ends at Superior Trawl.
Proceeds from the festival will be donated to Hasbro Children’s Hospital, Narragansett Parks and Recreation Financial Aid Program, and the Jonnycake Center of Peacedale. DEM Director Janet Coit, officials from the Town of Narragansett and representatives of the commercial and recreational fishing industries will present the checks on Sunday at the 3 p.m. fishing tournament awards ceremony.
