Police said that no other vehicles were on the road at the time, and the officer was able to make a traffic stop on Torrey Road at the intersection of Route 1.

According to police, when the driver – Paolozzi – was asked about the near-accident, she told the officer, “What’s your problem?” and “I never even saw you.”

Police said Paolozzi smelled strongly of alcohol, and refused to provide police with her license, registration or insurance information, or to step out of the car.

According to police, Paolozzi was asked again to exit her car, at which point she allegedly told the officer she was “going to have my job.” Police said another officer arrived on scene, at which point Paolozzi was told she was under arrest for suspicion of drunken driving.

Police said that Paolozzi became angry, and refused to open her door. Police said that when they opened the door and attempted to remove Paolozzi from the car, she actively resisted arrest and fought against officers. Police noted that she attempted to spit on one officer as well.

According to police, an inventory of the car revealed an open Bud Light can, and a knife near the driver’s seat. Three loose pills were located on Paolozzi when she was searched.

Police said that while processing Paolozzi, she apologized repeatedly and asked officers to overlook the arrest. Police said that when she was informed it wasn’t possible, she became enraged again, and refused to answer any questions or sign any forms.

According to police, Paolozzi was processed and released that day. She is scheduled for arraignment Thursday.

According to online records, Paolozzi pleaded to North Kingstown police charges of reckless driving and driving while under the influence in October 2009.
