Heartfelt Plea for Project Undercover Donations Honors a Young Life
Kindness of a community for a worthy cause.

Sheila McPartlin teaches sixth grade students at Narragansett Pier Middle School. Tragically, she lost her ten year old niece, Emily, this past September. Emily was a sweet, compassionate fifth grader from Cumberland, RI who, among many things, loved being a Girl Scout. When Narragansett’s fifth grade Girl Scout troop started their annual “Project Undercover” drive in the school, Sheila wanted to support this cause and raise undergarments in her niece’s name.
On the day Emily would have celebrated her 11th birthday, Sheila wrote a letter to her students and fellow teachers telling them about Project Undercover. She explained how Southgansett Girl Scouts were collecting new packages of children’s socks, underwear and diapers and she asked them to consider making a donation in honor of Emily.
In response to the letter, Narragansett Middle School families donated an amazing 2,032 items for Project Undercover. The overwhelming support of a school community to show their love for a very special teacher demonstrates the incredible generosity and kindness of the people of Narragansett. And now, because of Emily, South County children who are living in poverty can look forward to having the items they need this coming holiday season.
