Hera Gallery Presents 'The Business of Art' Tonight (and 4 More Things)

    'The Business of Art' at Hera Gallery: Tonight at 7 p.m., the Hera Gallery located at 10 High Street, Wakefield, will host "The Business of Art", a workshop on tax and business basics for working artists and designers. The professional development workshop will be presented by Rich Streitfeld, CPA. Admission is $15 at the door to support the gallery, but those interested in attending should call 789-1488 to reserve their seat. Click here for complete details.

    Computer Basics in Narragansett: From 2-3 p.m. today, the Narragansett Public Library (35 Kingstown Road, Narragansett) will offer a free computer basics class for those just beginning to learn how to use a computer. An instructor will briefly go over the physical computer parts, how to power on and off, how to use the Start menu, how "Windows" works, and more. Users will also be allowed to practice using the mouse and keyboard. Note: This class does not include information on Apple products, only Microsoft.     Photography Course: From 6-9 p.m. this evening, South Kingstown Parks & Recreation will hold a "Digital Photography Made Easy" class at The Neighborhood Guild (325 Columbia St., Peace Dale). The course instructed by Ronald Zincone will help participants understand 35mm photography by learning a basic strategy known as "the photographer's triangle" while learning how to use their cameras to create digital art. (Bring your 35mm digital camera to class.) $32 Resident; $37 Non-resident.

    This Weekend - SK Pumpkin Races: At 12:30 p.m. this Saturday, Oct. 26, the South Kingstown Parks & Recreation Department will host the First Annual Pumpkin Races at the Curtis Corner Middle School playfields. Participants will decorate pumpkin, insert axles, attach wheels and race downhill against other pumpkins! Registration will be done on the day of the race. $5 per entry, $8 if kits are provided.Click here to view the event flyer for complete details.
