I'd Like To Buy RI A Beer: Narragansett Offers Us All A Cold One
Narragansett Beer wants to buy every person in Rhode Island a beer in 2019, as long as you're 21 or over, of course.
NARRAGANSETT, RI — Rhode Island's most iconic brewery has set a lofty goal for 2019: give every person of legal drinking age in the state a free beer. The company is hosting a series of events across the state all year long with that goal in mind, as a way of celebrating Rhode Islanders and local restaurants.
"For generations, Rhode Island’s bars and restaurants have acted as community centers where neighbors, regardless of their differences, get together over food and beer to talk about life," the company wrote on its website. "We go to our neighbors and our neighborhood bars to support each other, learn from one another, to console, celebrate, and share stories."
As a way of celebrating, the company is alphabetically working its way through the state's 39 cities and towns, holding one event per week, starting in February. Since then, Narragansett has worked its way through Barrington, Bristol, Burrillville, Central Falls, Charlestown, Coventry and Cranston. If your city or town has already had its event, you can always go to one in a neighboring town.

"This year we want to celebrate these establishments and all of our neighbors in our small but mighty state, and thank you for making our community different and ever-changing," they continued. "To do this, we want to buy everyone a ‘Gansett. Yep, every single person in the state if we can. You’ve earned it."
At the Buy RI events, everyone receives a wooden nickel that can be used to buy, well, a 'Gansett at the bar. The company added that the first 50 people at each event will also get a free Narragansett pint glass.
