Joseph E. Harris, Basketball and Bowling Champion, Dies at 74.

Joseph E. Harris, 74, of Wakefield, died on Tuesday, June 11, 2013. He was the beloved husband of Katherine (Wilcox) Harris for more than forty years.

Born in South Kingstown, he was the son of the late William and Nellie R. (Jordan) Harris. Harris was employed at the University of Rhode Island for many years, retiring in 2000. He attended Georgia College on a basketball scholarship and played baseball for the Palisades. He was the firstva member of the South Kingstown B.P.O.E. Lodge 1899.

Visiting hours are on Saturday, June 15 from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. at the Avery-Storti Funeral Home in Wakefield, followed by a funeral service at 1 p.m.
