Narragansett Crews Put Out Fire On Winterberry Road

A propane grill malfunctioned, and fire spread from the deck into the house.

NARRAGANSETT, RI—Crews stopped a fire from burning a house on Winterberry Road to the ground on Monday evening. According to Capt. Nelson Upright, the fire started when a propane grill malfunctioned and started a fire on the deck. The flames rapidly spread inside the house, he said. The fire went through the eaves.

Lt. Scott McLaughlin and Firefighter Kyle Gagne "arrived first and put the fire out," he said. He estimated it took about 15 minutes to knock down. Witnesses estimated the first calls for help went out around 6:30 p.m.
