Narragansett Police Log: Bevy of DUIs

• Savannah J. Lessing, 20, of 3 Ashton Lane, Narragansett, was charged with DUI at 1 a.m. on Sept. 6 after being pulled over on Point Judith Road for swerving and allegedly running a stop sign at Ocean Road. She told officers she was at the Bon Vue Inn that evening and she was able to get into the bar because she “knows people.”

After allegedly failing field sobriety tests, officers took Lessing to the station, where she reportedly registered a blood alcohol level of .218, more than double the legal limit.

• Anna L. Lyons, 20, of 9 Glocester Road, Narragansett, was charged with DUI and refusal on Sept. 6 around midnight after officers pulled her over on Charlestown Boulevard because she was reportedly driving without her headlights on.

• Gwendolyn R. Audette, 20, of 546 Main St., South Kingstown, was charged with DUI, refusal to submit to a chemical test and obstruction on Sept. 7 at 1:30 a.m. after being pulled over on Ocean Road because she was reportedly dragging a basketball sized rock under her car, making a loud noise and sparking on the pavement. She was also reportedly driving between the two southbound lanes.

Officers noticed scrapes and gouges from bumper to bumper on the passenger side of the car, and the sideview mirror was detached. Audette told officers it was old damage from hitting a rock, but had no answer for the fresh tree bark stuck in the windshield and passenger side door handles. 

Audette, who has originally identified herself as Castine Audette, her older sister, reportedly failed three field sobriety tests and was arrested. On the way to the station, Audette reportedly told officers, “I hit a tree.”

• Hazard J. Wells, 28, of 67 Usquepaugh Road, South Kingstown, was charged with driving under the influence and refusal to submit to a chemical test on Sept. 10 after being pulled over on Point Judith Road.

An officer reportedly saw Wells’ Subaru Outback, which had a tail light out, veer across the double yellow line and swerve back into the lane three times. Upon questioning, Wells initially told police he did not have anything to drink that night. But when asked about the empty six-pack of Sierra Nevada in the backseat, he reportedly admitted to having “three or four beers” over the past hour.

After allegedly failing three field sobriety tests, Wells was arrested and taken to the police station, where he reportedly refused a Breathalyzer test.
