New State-Run Coronavirus Vaccine Sites Opening In Rhode Island
The Woonsocket site is set to open in the coming weeks, with a site in West Kingston opening not far behind.

PROVIDENCE, RI — Several new state-run coronavirus vaccine sites are set to open in Rhode Island in the coming weeks. The new sites will become operational as soon as the state has enough vaccine doses from the federal government, the Department of Health said.
The previously announced site in Woonsocket will be ready to open by the end of next week, said Tom McCarthy, the executive director of the department's vaccine effort. It will be up and running as soon as there are enough doses, he said.
Another new South County site is also set to open in the coming weeks. Although the final arrangements are still in progress, the department is looking to get the site operational at Schneider Electric in West Kingston soon.

The department is also working to set up three municipally-led sites in the state, which will be open to all Rhode Island residents. Appointments will be scheduled in the same way as the other state-run sites, through the VaccinateRI.org portal.
