According to police, when asked why he took the items, Robinson allegedly told them that he needed some fast cash and planned to sell the goods in Providence.
Police noted that because of a past shoplifting conviction, and because the value of the shoplifting items was greater than $100, Robinson was charged with a felony as opposed to a misdemeanor. Police said he was processed and then released at about 7:38 p.m.
Kingston Man Arrested for Hopkinton Warrant
David J. Smith, 21, of 13 Kingston Hill Court, Kingston, was arrested at about 9:11 a.m. on April 23. Police said a Hopkinton police warrant was out for Smith’s arrest for a charge of domestic assault.
According to police, an officer monitoring the Galilee Escape Road near Point Judith Road saw a car driven by Smith take a right-hand turn without signaling. The officer also recognized Smith from previous contacts, and knew he had a warrant out for his arrest.
Police said a traffic stop was made on the escape road. Police confirmed Smith’s identity and arrested him without incident.
According to police, Smith was warned for the signal violation, and Hopkinton police took custody of him at 10:41 a.m.
