No Car Found, DUI Arrest Made

Police say that no evidence of a car crash leads a man to confess to drunken driving. Narragansett police logs from April 28, 2013.

No Mystery Car, As URI Student Charged With DUI

Christopher P. Perry, 21, of 21 Camden Road, Narragansett, was arrested at about 12:36 a.m. on April 28 and charged with drunken driving. Police said Perry is a student at the University of Rhode Island.

According to police, they received a report of a car accident near the George’s parking lot on Sand Hill Cove Road. Police said that the driver – Perry – told them that a blue car had run his off the road.

Police said that Perry’s car was totaled, with the airbags deployed and fluids leaking from the engine, as a result of it hitting a wood pillar leading into the state parking lot for Salty Brine Beach.

However, police said that as they spoke to Perry, he smelled strongly of alcohol. Police said that as they tried to ask Perry where the car had come from, he gave them conflicting accounts – First pointing out toward the ocean, and then claiming it came from the opposite direction, from Oak Avenue, which was a mile away.

According to police, the area Perry claimed he saw the other car is a one-way road. Police said an examination of the scene didn’t reveal any skid marks or signs of stopping, and when asked again about his claim, Perry told them that there wasn’t another car and he had been driving too fast.

Police said Perry consented to field sobriety tests, which he failed. Police said Perry also consented to chemical breath tests, which revealed blood alcohol levels of .198 at 1:17 a.m. and .208 at about 1:19 a.m.

According to police, Perry was processed at headquarters and then released at about 9:40 a.m.

URI Student Charged With DUI

Allison Heinz, 22, of 20 John St., Narragansett, was arrested at about 7:23 p.m. on April 28 and charged with drunken driving, and cited for refusing to submit to a chemical test. Police said Heinz is a student at the University of Rhode Island.

According to police, two witnesses told them that they saw a red Miata – driven by Heinz – swerving on Ocean Road near Congdon Street. The witnesses told police that the Miata hit the back of a Mercury Milan near the intersection.

Police said that when they spoke to Heinz, she smelled strongly of alcohol. Police said she consented to field sobriety tests, which she failed.

According to police, Heinz refused to submit to chemical breath tests at headquarters. She was processed and then released at about 10 p.m.

Trespassing Charge Also Leads to Warrant Arrest

Benjamin A. Lindley, 24, of 7255 Post Road, North Kingstown, was arrested at about 3:22 a.m. on April 28 and charged with trespassing.

According to police, they received a complaint of Lindley returning to a home on Bonnet Shores Road. Police said that Lindley was issued a no-trespass order on April 5.

Police said that a search of the home revealed Linley hiding in a shower in the basement. He was arrested without incident, processed and then transferred to the ACI at about 1:30 p.m.

However, police said that the calling party – Christen Conley, 38, of 107 Bonnet Shores Road, Narragansett – had two Superior Court warrants out for her arrest. Police said the warrants were issued on April 22.

According to police, Conley was arrested without incident. She was transferred to the ACI at about 5 a.m.

URI Student Charged With Vandalism

Elijah Saintfleur, 19, of 24 Winthrop Ave., West Warwick, was arrested at about 1:45 a.m. on April 28 and charged with vandalism. Police said Saintfleur is a student at the University of Rhode Island.

According to police, they received a report of a man punching the rear hatchback of a car on Melville Lane. Police said that a witness had taken a photo of the green Jeep and its license plate as the man and several others drive away.

Police said an officer made a traffic stop of the Jeep on Point Judith Road near Sunset Farm. Police said the witness positively identified Saintfleur as the man who had punched the car.

According to police, Saintfleur was arrested without incident, processed and then released at about 2:45 a.m.
