Obituary: Alexander S. Ruhig, M.D., 87

Alexander S. Ruhig M.D. 87, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2016.

Born in Hungary, the son of Jacob and Seren Ruhig, and brother of his late sister, Magda (Nira), he survived the Nazi persecution of World War II and attended the University of Graz where he received his medical degree in 1955.

He emigrated to the United Stated where he obtained his license to practice medicine in Rhode Island in 1961. He specialized in psychiatry providing care to patients in Rhode Island and Massachusetts over a long career.

He enjoyed skiing the glamour resorts of Europe for many years along with tennis in the summer and sailing with friends on Narragansett Bay.

Alex is survived by his loving nieces and dear friends throughout the world. He will be missed by all for his unique personality and love of life (and food).
