Obituary: Joan M. Fortin, 84, Teacher

Joan M. Fortin, 84, of Kingston, passed away on Thursday, June 2, 2016. She was the wife of Laurent “Larry” Fortin. Born in Chicago, IL, to the late Frank and Teresa (Wiener) Stolfa.

Mrs. Fortin was a special education teacher for the Bristol/Warren School District. Joan enjoyed gardening, reading, and listening to classical music. She was a member of numerous educational organizations and did volunteer work in South Kingstown.

She is survived by her sister Rita Romanelli of Berkeley, IL; brothers Richard A. Stolfa and his wife Elizabeth of Arlington Heights, IL, James P. Stolfa of Osprey, FL,; and a sister-in-law Evelyn Stolfa of Chicago, IL; and was sister to the late Frank Robert Stolfa and Marie Turek.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at 10:00 am in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 114 High St, Wakefield, RI with a burial at a later date. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, June 7, 2016 from 4-7pm in Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia St, Wakefield.
