Roland "Bucky" Babcock Smith Jr., 69, of Englewood Florida (formally of Narragansett), passed away suddenly on August 3, 2016.

ROLAND BABCOCK SMITH, JR. A.K.A. “BUCKY”, 69, of Englewood Florida (formally of Narragansett), passed away suddenly on August 3, 2016. Bucky was the husband of the late Carol Freethy Smith.
Bucky was a commercial fisherman out of Point Judith his entire life until retirement. Known for his quick wit and humor he will be sadly missed by all who knew him. He was a life member of the South Kingstown lodge of Elks 1899, a member of the Englewood Loyal Order of Moose 1933, and an avid NACAR fan.
Born in Wakefield, he was the son of the late Roland B. Smith and the late Hazel P. Smith. He is survived by a son, Roland B. Smith III of Narragansett, a daughter Rebecca Monahon (Neal) of Richmond, two sisters Patricia Mello (James) of Englewood Florida, Susan Smith of Wakefield, a brother Scott Smith (Lynn) of Wakefield, many nieces and nephews, and life-long friends. He was pre-deceased by two sisters Phyllis Gallup and Barbara Makin.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary’s Star of the Sea in Narragansett on August 19, 2016 at 10 o’clock. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted. In lieu of flowers memorial donation made to the Point Judith Fishermen’s Scholarship Fund would be appreciated.
