Obituary: Rose Mary Mournighan, 93

Rose M. Mournighan (Vickery), 93, of Matunuck, passed away on Friday, April 15, 2016, at home. She was the wife of the late John T. Mournighan.

Born in Providence, a daughter of the late Letto and Rose Mary (Hurst) Vickery.

Mrs. Mournighan was a member of the Matunuck Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Axillary; the Matunuck Point Beach Club; involved with the Boy Scouts Troop 2 of East Greenwich and taught sewing with the Girl Scouts. She is survived by her children, Mary Jampel and her husband Ron of Brick, NJ and Michael E. Mournighan and his wife Gail Pitts of Coventry; five grandchildren, Cara McDermott, Sean Mournighan, Benjamin Jampel, Hilary Jampel and Kimberly Cook; a great-granddaughter, Wendy Rose Mournighan and her dear friend, Marge Mailloux.

She was the mother of the late Maureen A., Thomas F. and John T. Mournighan and the sister of the late Letto “Vic” Vickery.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, April 18, 2016, at 10 am in St. Romauld Chapel, Atlantic Ave., Matunuck. Burial will follow in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Visiting hours will be Sunday 4-6 pm in the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia St., Wakefield.
